15 min ReadWhat do you understand by digital transformation? Although it has become a buzzword today, it is often misunderstood.
Digital transformation means removing tidy and time-consuming manual tasks and implementing software or other technologies that can reduce the time required to complete tasks and increase productivity. It’s not just about adding new technology to what a company already has. Instead, it’s about completely changing how a company operates to improve things from the ground up.
For example –
- Digital transformation could mean upgrading to cloud systems to access everything remotely.
- Training employees in new skills to keep up with changes
- Using robots or computers to speed up customer service or
- Using smart technology to make sales more efficient
Firms in the financial, healthcare, retail, manufacturing, education, and other industries are witnessing this change. They are changing the ways they operate to survive and thrive in a world that is becoming increasingly digital.
- According to Statista’s projections, the worldwide expenditure on digital transformation is expected to reach $3.4 trillion by 2026.
- Global digital transformation spending is projected to reach 3.4 trillion U.S. dollars by the year 2026.
But what does digital transformation do? What benefits does it bring to businesses? And how are different industries implementing it? This extensive blog post will cover all these aspects in detail. We will also discuss various examples of digital transformation and how different industries have implemented them.
What is Digital Transformation?
Digital transformation is defined as the process of using digital tools to evolve different aspects of a business and its overall value proposition. It extends well beyond the more conventional ones, such as sales, marketing, and customer care.
At the same time, it concerns only the attitude towards and interaction with customers, as well as the very initial and final points. When companies decide to undertake this shift, they transform all their processes and designs to better, leaner, and more customer-oriented business models.
Benefits of Digital Transformation for Businesses
Digital transformation has various benefits that one can avail of by implementing it in their organization structure. For example, by digitally transforming their work activities, they can effectively plan how they want to target their customers.
For instance, McKinsey has found that organizations that are digitally transforming their businesses can increase productivity by 20- 30 percent. Also, well-organized processes and process automation often decrease operational expenses, freeing up capital for innovation and development.
You need to start acting and providing value as a digital company. Digital transformation, therefore, allows companies to remain relevant and maintain their market relevance, respond to new conditions, and develop new offers that meet clients’ requirements.
Thus, the effective use of Web technologies can help companies deliver more interesting and appealing customer experiences, which in turn will serve as a basis for stable revenues and high profits. Digital transformation brings various benefits –
- Increased Efficiency
- Enhanced Customer Experience
- Data-Driven Decision Making
- Improved Agility
- Cost Savings
Let’s explore some successful digital transformation initiatives across various industries.
